Buddhism was invented by Goutam Buddha. Who were a prince of Saky tribe in Nepal and his name was Siddhartha Gautama. After six years of tough yogic training he gave up the way of self-mortification and decides to sit in a meditation under a bodhi tree.

On the month of May on the rising morning Siddhartha Gautama became Buddha. Buddha wandered the land of northern India for 45 years by teaching the people the way of dharma.
